Meet Namatovu Siiko, 4 year-old Ugandan girl living in Lukwanga Parish, Wakiso Sub County. She is one of those many young girls that have walked to me and requested for their Photograph to be taken and later-on say;… let me have a look! It is such innocence that has made me love children more and more ever since I started photographing Development Projects in Uganda and my small experience with them has shaped a great part of me.
With these Rotary Health Projects, we partly explore the lives of children in remote corners of the country and too often we find children growing up in difficult circumstances, faced with poverty, illness and poor medical attention.
Meet Nanfuka Judith, barely 1 year old and already suffering with burns.
Thanks to the Rotary Clubs, It is through such projects that most of the children and other residents here get their best medical attention, which usually includes immunisation, De-worming, Malaria treatment and dental care.
The Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD) are conducted in partnership with the Aids information centre Uganda,Ministry of Health, Coca-Cola, andUSAID in order to host a series of projects and on such days, the Department of Health supplies qualified people to do completely free testing, screenings and counselling.
Rotarians hope to reach more communities through their projects each year.
